Sierra Leone "Books for Schools"

News Item Date: 16/04/2010 12:48:03
We are delighted that a container of donated books for Sierra Leone school libraries cleared customs on Wednesday this week (April 14). The timing was perfect as CLC Africa Director, Liz Patten, and CLC London manager, Petra Nemansky, were in Freetown in anticipation of its arrival.

The vision was born almost two years previously when Liz visited some schools and found libraries devoid of books. A project was devised and friends of CLC in the UK responded generously. The outcome is a container load of books that will be distributed to more than 60 schools. The official launch took place on Thursday April at the Freetown municipal library. The national TV news channel filmed the ceremony and various CLC staff were interviewed. The process of distribution will now begin. As Liz Patten writes “What a lovely start to our visit here … we give God all the glory!”
